Continued Attacks Against Israel, Fighters Killed in Iraq

Iran launched a new barrage of missiles against Israel in the early hours of today, as reported by state television. Simultaneously, an airstrike in Iraq, attributed to the United States, killed seven fighters from the Hashd al-Shaabi ("Popular Mobilization Forces"), an alliance of former paramilitary organizations. The strike targeted their base in Anbar province and injured another 13 members of the alliance. The alliance is now formally integrated into the Iraqi army, however, some of its factions are considered to be operating autonomously. A strong explosion was heard in Jerusalem after a second warning from the Israeli army about the launch of another barrage of missiles from Iran. The launches followed statements by Donald Trump about talks with an Iranian official to end the war, which were denied by Tehran. The situation remains tense, with the Israeli army attempting to intercept threats and hostilities continuing.
