UK and France to Co-Chair Meeting on Strait of Hormuz Security

The UK and France will co-chair a meeting of approximately 30 countries this week, aiming to establish an international coalition to guarantee the security of the Strait of Hormuz. The meeting, at the level of defense officials, will be presided over by the British Chief of the Defence Staff, Richard Naughton, and his French counterpart, Fabien Mandon. London has also offered to host a future international conference on the security of the Strait of Hormuz in Portsmouth or London, with the goal of creating a coalition of committed nations. This initiative indicates growing concern for the security of this vital maritime route. The British Ministry of Defence has not yet confirmed these reports.
