Cyprus: Trial Continues for German Real Estate Agent Accused of Promoting Properties in Occupied Territories

The trial of a German real estate agent accused of advertising and exploiting Greek Cypriot land in the occupied territories continued in the Nicosia Criminal Court. During the session, the defense attorney requested time to translate the defendant's affidavit and prepare her testimony, which will accompany an application to modify her detention conditions. The witness, Police Officer Christos Chatzivasileiou, presented videos and social media posts identified during an online investigation, promoting holiday properties in the occupied territories with the VePa immobilien logo and featuring the defendant presenting these properties. The defense attorney objected, arguing that the presentation of this material aims to create impressions against the defendant and that the witness cannot verify the authenticity of the text in the posts. The court dismissed the objection and scheduled the continuation of the witness examination for Wednesday, with the defendant remaining in custody.
