Foreign Minister Konstantinos Kombos met with the UK Minister for Europe and North America, Stephen Doughty, to discuss developments in the Middle East and the Gulf, as well as the resulting geopolitical challenges. The meeting took place within the framework of the regular dialogue between Cyprus and the United Kingdom. Both sides exchanged views on foreign policy issues, taking into account the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Mr. Kombos emphasized the need for close and continuous coordination between Cyprus and the United Kingdom, given the complex geopolitical situation. He stressed that diplomacy and meaningful dialogue are the only sustainable path to stability. The meeting is part of a series of meetings that have taken place between the two countries, aiming to strengthen cooperation and address common challenges. Cyprus and the United Kingdom have long-standing relations and cooperate in various fields, such as defense, economy, and security. The discussion focused on recent developments in the Middle East, including the situation in Gaza and the increasing tensions in the region. The two ministers agreed on the need for de-escalation and the promotion of a peaceful solution.
