Agreement Reached on 15-Member Committee to Govern Gaza Strip

The Egyptian government announced an agreement regarding the names of the members of a 15-member Palestinian technocratic committee that will take over the administration of the Gaza Strip, based on the peace plan of US President Donald Trump. The committee will be overseen by a Peace Council chaired by Trump himself and will be responsible for the daily life and basic services in the enclave. A Hamas delegation met with Egyptian mediators in Cairo to discuss the committee's operation and the ceasefire, while a decree from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is expected for its official establishment. Discussions also include the withdrawal of Israeli forces, the reopening of the Rafah border crossing, and the entry of humanitarian aid. The operation of the Peace Council will be overseen by Bulgarian diplomat Nikolai Mladenov.
