Condolences from Tatar and Akinci for the Death of George Vassiliou

Former Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar and former Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci sent condolences for the death of former President of the Republic, George Vassiliou. Mr. Akinci stated that Mr. Vassiliou was dedicated to a logical solution to the Cyprus problem and continued to contribute to efforts to reunite the island even after leaving office. He described him as a man with a realistic and modern vision. Mr. Tatar noted that Mr. Vassiliou would be remembered as a personality who sought contact and dialogue with the Turkish Cypriot side. Both leaders expressed their sorrow to the family of the deceased and the Greek Cypriot community. Ozdil Nami also issued a message of condolence, stating that Cyprus had lost a significant political leader and that if Mr. Vassiliou had been the negotiator during the Crans Montana Conference, the outcome would have been different.
