Arrests in Chloraka for Torture of a Turtle

Four employees of the Chloraka Community Council have been arrested on charges of animal abuse, following the publication of a video on social media showing them throwing and kicking the carcass of a Caretta-Caretta turtle. The turtle had been washed ashore on a Chloraka beach and the employees had gone there to remove it. The arrested individuals, aged 58, 47, 27 and 22, claim that the turtle was already dead when they found it. However, police will conduct an autopsy to determine if the turtle was alive when it was mistreated, as there are testimonies to the contrary. The video caused strong reactions on social media, with many users condemning the behavior of the employees. Police are investigating the case and will take further action depending on the results of the autopsy.
