Cyprus Sees Significant Increase in Hotel Licensing

A significant increase in hotel licensing in Cyprus has been recorded in the past year, with the percentage of licensed accommodations reaching 45% from 5%-6% in 2023. The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Kostas Koumis, told the Parliamentary Committee that the Christodoulides Government worked intensively to achieve this result. The discussion concerned the referral of the law regulating the establishment and operation of hotels. Despite the progress, more than 50% of hotels have not yet submitted a licensing application, which is causing concern. The government does not wish to take harsh measures, but emphasizes the need for hoteliers to take responsibility.
