Flu Deaths in Cyprus Rise to 13, Including a 54-Year-Old

The number of flu-related deaths in Cyprus has risen to 13, with the latest victim being a 54-year-old who died in a private hospital. Dr. Elisavet Konstantinou, Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Health, stated that the flu has surpassed the age “barrier” of the elderly, as most victims are over 80 years old with underlying conditions. However, the death of the 54-year-old is an exception. The epidemic appears to have reached its peak and is showing a slight decline, with a decrease in cases and hospitalizations. The Ministry of Health assures that there is an adequate supply of antiviral drugs and diagnostic tests, and the procurement and utilization of an electronic monitoring system have been initiated for potential conditional release of prisoners.
