Spies Arrested in Turkey 'Just in Time'

Turkey announced the arrest of six individuals, five Turkish citizens and one Iranian, accused of espionage on behalf of Iran. Ankara is reportedly concerned about a potential US attack on Iran and the implications for Turkish interests, including a possible influx of refugees from the Iranian border and regional destabilization. There are also fears about the strengthening of Kurds in Syria and Iran, as well as the potential collapse of the disarmament agreement with the PKK. Turkey accuses the detainees of transferring drones and collecting information, including monitoring the Incirlik military base. However, there is also the view that the case may be fabricated for domestic consumption and to divert attention from real problems.
