The Council of Ministers is expected to make a series of important decisions today, focusing on three main areas: the economy and housing plans, institutional strengthening against crime, and restoring equal rights in electoral matters. Regarding the economy, the expansion of housing schemes will be approved, as the government has invested over 300 million euros in national and European affordable housing programs. The government's economic policies allow for targeted social interventions in areas such as health, education, and social welfare. In the field of justice, a constitutional amendment is proposed based on recommendations from the FBI, aiming to strengthen the work of law enforcement agencies and shield the country against crime. This change will contribute to the more effective tackling of organized crime and other forms of criminal activity. A significant political issue is granting voting rights to those displaced from their ancestral homes in local government elections. These individuals will be able to vote both in their place of residence and in their place of origin, as already applies to those displaced from their parents' homes. This decision fulfills a pre-election commitment made by President Christodoulides. These decisions demonstrate the government’s commitment to economic development, social justice, and institutional transparency. The implementation of these measures is expected to have a positive impact on the quality of life for citizens and to strengthen democracy in Cyprus.
