Sweden: Gun Violence Decreases by 63% Compared to Last Year

Gun violence incidents in Sweden have decreased significantly by 63% since 2022, when they reached a historic high. The Kristersson government, which has taken strict measures to combat crime, has expressed satisfaction with this development. However, the number of deaths from gun violence remains stable compared to the previous year. The government has increased resources and adopted new practices to tackle organized crime, such as ensuring anonymity for witnesses, increased electronic surveillance, and stricter penalties. Police have seized assets linked to gangs, but they continue to recruit new members, mainly online.
