Cyprus Police are in a new phase of investigation regarding an edited video that has caused a political crisis. George Lakkotrypis, who testified about the video, claims it contains answers to its content if presented in its entirety. The investigation focuses on evaluating the evidence submitted by Lakkotrypis and searching for critical pieces of the puzzle, potentially abroad. According to the Police, there is ongoing communication between the Assistant Attorney General and the Chief of Police for legal guidance on the investigation. The evaluation of scientific reports from relevant departments, such as the Electronic Crime Unit and the Forensic Science Service, is expected. The possibility of testimony from businessman George Chrysos and the Director of the President's Office, Charalambos Charalambous, who also appear in the video, is being considered. Lakkotrypis's testimony mentioned meetings with representatives of the Dutch company “Stratix Wealth,” which were conducted legally with the issuance of invoices. The company “Stratix Wealth” allegedly was interested in investing €150 million in the energy sector, specifically in the private power station in Vasiliko. Lakkotrypis allegedly explained how undeclared money could be offered, but assured that Nikos Christodoulides does not accept such offers. The Police are expected to request access to evidence from Europol, including visual material from the meeting locations in the Netherlands.
