Private Hospitals at a Critical Point Due to Staff Shortage - Requesting Employment of Nurses from Third Countries

The President of the Pan-Cypriot Association of Private Hospitals (PASIN), Marios Karaiskakis, warns of a “ticking time bomb” in the healthcare system due to the severe shortage of nursing staff in private hospitals. Despite repeated meetings and commitments, there has been no substantial progress. Mr. Karaiskakis proposes revising the nurse-to-patient ratios, accelerating the licensing procedures for graduates, and employing nurses from third countries. Additionally, he points out malfunctions in the ambulance sector and proposes the creation of a unified system for utilizing both public and private resources in emergency situations.
