Toyota Gazoo Racing Dominates Monte Carlo Rally

Oliver Solberg and Elliott Edmondson secured a resounding victory at the Monte Carlo Rally, marking their first win in the World Rally Championship (WRC) with the Toyota GR Yaris Rally1. This triumph follows their success at the Estonian Rally and solidifies Solberg's position as a rising star in the WRC. This year's Monte Carlo Rally proved exceptionally challenging due to the diverse and unfavorable weather conditions, including snow, ice, rain, and mud. Despite this, Solberg demonstrated maturity and confidence, even recovering from a minor off-road excursion. Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin finished in a strong second place, achieving their fifth podium finish at Monte Carlo. They also won the Power Stage, collecting valuable championship points. Veteran Sébastien Ogier completed the podium in third, securing his 15th podium in 17 appearances at the event. The result represents a historic achievement for Toyota, claiming all three top spots on the podium – a feat not seen since 2015. This is the first time a manufacturer has achieved a full podium lockout at Monte Carlo. Toyota President Akio Toyoda expressed his pride in the team's effort under such demanding circumstances. The WRC continues with the Swedish Rally (February 12-15), a purely winter rally on snow and ice, promising more spectacular action and high speeds.
