Published January 24, 2026, 07:26

Russia launched massive airstrikes on Kyiv and Kharkiv on the night of Friday to Saturday, resulting in at least one death and 15 injuries. Ukrainian authorities reported that the strikes were carried out with drones and missiles, causing significant damage to homes and infrastructure. In Kyiv, one person was killed and four were injured, while in Kharkiv at least 11 people were injured. The strikes occurred while delegations from Ukraine, Russia and the United States were in Abu Dhabi for peace talks. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the territorial issue remains the main obstacle in the negotiations. Russia demands the cession of Donbas, while Ukraine opposes. The strikes underscore the ongoing tension and violence in Ukraine, despite international efforts to achieve peace. The situation in Ukraine remains precarious, with Kyiv relying on Western support to counter the Russian offensive.
