Rubio from Munich: Washington Does Not Abandon Alliance with Europe

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio assured at the Munich Security Conference that the US has no intention of abandoning its alliance with Europe, describing Europe as a 'child' of the US. He emphasized Washington's continued commitment to ending the war in Ukraine, while also expressing reservations about Russia's intentions. Rubio estimated that Russia can no longer achieve its initial goals due to the massive losses it has suffered. He stressed the need for a new transatlantic cooperation, aiming to restore a 'logical foreign policy' and strengthen allies so that they can defend themselves. In addition, he referred to the long-term challenges in relations with China, characterizing them as permanent 'sources of friction,' but emphasized the need to manage the relationship with China for the benefit of the world. He also highlighted the need to create a Western supply chain independent of potential coercion.
