Iranian Hackers Launch Cyberattacks Worldwide

Research by Check Point reveals the growing threat of Iranian cyberattacks worldwide. Iran has developed a complex ecosystem of hackers, including groups linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS), as well as “hacktivist” groups. These groups are involved in espionage, sabotage, the spread of false news, and propaganda attacks. The Cotton Sandstorm company, linked to the IRGC, uses advanced techniques such as website spoofing, DDoS attacks, and data theft, combined with influence campaigns and disinformation. These attacks primarily target the Middle East, the United States, and other countries that Iran considers adversaries, and are expected to intensify in the context of the current regional crisis.
