Fires in Engomi, Zakaki and Konia – Dog Dies in Kitchen Fire

The Fire Service responded to a series of fires in homes and properties in Nicosia, Limassol, and Paphos. One of the fires in Engomi caused extensive damage to a kitchen in an apartment, while another in Zakaki, in a storage room, caused material damage to gardening tools. In a house in Limassol, the fire that broke out in the kitchen self-extinguished, but caused serious damage and led to the death of a dog. The cause is attributed to an electrical problem. In the Konia Community of Paphos, a fire broke out in the wooden roof of a two-story house, causing damage only to the attic. The residents managed to get out of the house safely. The cause of the fire appears to be a fireplace chimney. The fire forces responded immediately to all incidents, using water hoses and breathing apparatus to extinguish the flames. Investigations into the exact causes of the fires are ongoing.
