President of Cyprus: Proposal for Full Healthcare Coverage of Resettled Individuals through GESY

The President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, announced that a proposal will soon be submitted to the Council of Ministers for the full coverage of healthcare for resettled individuals through the GESY (General Healthcare System). The announcement was made during the celebration of Saint Maronas in Nicosia, where the President emphasized the importance of the community to Cyprus and its contribution to society. President Christodoulides assured that the issues of the enclaved, and especially the Maronites, are high on the agenda of his meetings with the UN Secretary-General and the Turkish Cypriot leader, Erhurman. He expressed hope for positive responses at their next meeting on February 24th. Furthermore, the President reiterated the state's appreciation for the Maronite community, emphasizing its contribution in various sectors, such as the judiciary, government, Parliament, and the Public Service. He highlighted the long-standing cooperation between the community and the government and the state. Finally, the President referred to the situation of the 14 Maronite villages under Turkish occupation and reaffirmed the government's commitment to improving the quality of life of the enclaved, both in the free areas and in the occupied territories, until the liberation and reunification of Cyprus.
