President: Both Athienou/Aglandjia or Kokkina Crossing Points Should Open Alongside Kaimakli

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, expressed the government's readiness to open the crossing points that had been agreed upon at the expanded conference on the Cyprus issue, emphasizing the service of both communities. Referring to a proposal by the Mayor of Nicosia to open a crossing point in Kaimakli, the President stressed that the opening must serve both Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots. Specifically, President Christodoulides stated that the government is ready to open crossing points in Kaimakli and Mia Milia, but at the same time, the Athienou-Aglandjia or Kokkina crossing points must also be opened to serve Greek Cypriots. This is the main goal, so that the crossing points facilitate the daily lives of both communities. The President mentioned that he has been informed about the telephone conversation between the negotiator and the Mayor of Nicosia and that the government is evaluating all proposals made by local authorities. He stressed the importance of mutual satisfaction for the entire Cypriot people. In addition, the President referred to actions taken at the Agios Dometios crossing point, such as the opening of a third lane, and reiterated the government's readiness to open all four crossing points that had been agreed upon at the expanded conference.
