President: "We will not accept profiteering"

President Nikos Christodoulides assured that the government will not tolerate profiteering in relation to price increases caused by the war in the region. He stated this in a statement, noting that measures are already in place, such as the zero VAT rate and electricity subsidies. He also announced that the issue will be discussed at the Council of Ministers on Monday. In addition, the President will travel to Brussels next week, where he will meet with the President of the European Commission and other officials, with discussions focusing on livestock farming, tourism and other issues concerning Cyprus. He also stressed that Cyprus is part of the geography of the region, but not part of the war, and that important sporting events are being held in the country. Finally, he referred to the scheduled meeting with the United Nations Secretary-General, with the aim of restarting talks immediately, and the EU's readiness to support this effort.
