President on Fuel Price Increases: We Will Not Tolerate Profiteering

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, assured that the government will not tolerate profiteering in relation to the increases in fuel and other product prices, which were caused by the war in the region. The President stated that the government has already taken measures, such as zero VAT and electricity subsidies, to protect consumers. The issue will be discussed at the Council of Ministers on Monday. In addition, President Christodoulides announced that he will have meetings in Brussels with the President of the European Commission, where issues such as livestock farming and tourism will be discussed. He also stressed that Cyprus is part of the geography of the region, but not part of the war, and that the country is hosting many foreign athletes for the European Throwing Cup. Finally, he referred to the scheduled meeting with the United Nations Secretary-General, with the aim of restarting negotiations.
