Annita's First Statement Regarding Alleged Assault on Mayor's Spouse: Decisions Will Be Made If There Is a Complaint or Police Investigation

The President of DISY, Annita Demetriou, commented on the ex officio investigation launched by the Police regarding the alleged assault on a mayor's spouse. She emphasized that political parties are not the Police and that DISY will only make decisions if there is a complaint or police investigation. Ms. Demetriou stated that DISY's policy is non-negotiable on issues of violence and that the Istanbul Convention is the party's "gospel" in such cases. However, she stressed that DISY can only make political management and does not interfere with the presumption of innocence, fair trial, or the legal aspect of the case. She expressed the caution that must be given to the handling of these cases and the protection of victims.
