Cyprus President Submits Five-Point Proposal in Trilateral Meeting

The President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, presented a five-point proposal during a trilateral meeting with Turkish Cypriot leader Erhurman and the UN Secretary-General's Personal Envoy, Maria Angela Holguin, held in the neutral zone of Nicosia. President Christodoulides stated that the four proposals put forward by Mr. Erhurman have already been addressed by the Greek Cypriot side, which accepts previous convergences. He suggested that if these convergences are also accepted by the Turkish Cypriot side, 70-80% of the Cyprus issue could be considered resolved. He also rejected predetermined consequences and emphasized that the issue of political equality has already been settled. Ms. Holguin, for her part, highlighted the lack of progress on Confidence-Building Measures (CBMs), stressing that progress in this area is essential for convening a broader meeting with the guarantor powers. President Christodoulides expressed his positive attitude towards reaching an agreement.
