Fine of €60,000 to audit firm. "Several complaints" to the Supervisory Authority

The Public Audit Oversight Authority (ADEELEP) is dealing with a "considerable number" of complaints, as stated by its Director-General, Panos Prodromitis, to the Parliamentary Committee on Finance. The complaints originate from inspections and from the Association of Certified Accountants of Cyprus (SELC). Some are at the stage of disciplinary review, while others are under investigation. ADEELEP is seeking to strengthen its human resources to deal with cases more effectively. A fine of €60,000 was imposed on an audit firm, and consultations are underway to amend the Auditors' Law to speed up the disciplinary process.
