Larnaca Tourism Prospects 'Very Positive' for 2026, Says Chamber President

The President of the Larnaca Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Dr. Nakis Antoniou, has expressed strong optimism about the tourism prospects for Larnaca in 2026, highlighting the city's significant development potential. According to Dr. Antoniou, Larnaca's designation as the European Capital of Culture for 2030 will significantly contribute to attracting tourists, while the increasing number of applications for the construction of boutique hotels within the city demonstrates investor interest. These boutique hotels, due to their nature, are expected to boost the local economy as tourists who choose them tend to spend more in local restaurants and shops. Furthermore, Dr. Antoniou mentioned that the removal of oil tanks from Larnaca's waterfront has significantly improved the city's image and enhanced its tourism appeal. Regarding the development of the Larnaca marina, updates are expected from the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works on the progress of the pilot study undertaken by the Hellenic Public Investment Fund. In parallel, the Legal Service of the Republic is expected to provide its opinion on the request of Prosperity Group CY Ltd to undertake the development of the port and marina, based on the existing contract. The company holds 20% of the Kition Ocean Holdings Consortium and has submitted a proposal for the unified development of the two infrastructures. Finally, Dr. Antoniou emphasized that the completion of Phase III of the Larnaca – Dekeleia coastal road will improve access to the city and further enhance tourism. Overall, the picture emerging is extremely positive for the future of tourism in Larnaca, with a series of significant projects and investments underway.
