Trump Invites Cyprus and Greece to Gaza Peace Council

According to Euronews, Donald Trump has invited Greece and Cyprus to participate in the “Peace Council” that will oversee the interim governance of Gaza. The Cypriot government has confirmed the invitation. The council will consist of 25 countries, including those that attended the Sharm El Sheikh ceremony, such as France, Canada, Gulf countries, and Turkey. The participation of Greece and Cyprus is considered an upgrade of their role in the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East region. The Council is part of Trump's peace plan for Gaza, based on UN Security Council Resolution 2803, and will aim to internationally supervise the transition process and stabilize the region. Simultaneously, an Executive Committee and a Palestinian national technocratic committee have been established to implement the plan and temporarily administer Gaza, respectively. Former Bulgarian diplomat N. Mladenov has been appointed High Representative to coordinate the bodies.
