Regulation for Nicotine Pouches to be Voted on in Parliament: Control, Taxation, and Ban on Minors

Regulation for nicotine pouches is being promoted for a vote in Parliament, aiming to control, tax, and ban the sale to minors. The bill, submitted by MP Chrysis Pantelidis of DIKO, aims to include nicotine pouches in the existing legislative framework for smoking control. Currently, these products are circulating in Cyprus without a regulatory framework, with some originating from the occupied territories. With the passage of the legislation, nicotine pouches will be treated like tobacco products, with content control, taxation, and customs marking. The regulation is expected to be brought to the plenary session of Parliament in early April.
