Ambassador Kakouris: Candidate for the Presidency of the 81st UN General Assembly Session

Ambassador Andreas Kakouris presented his candidacy for the Presidency of the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly to Commonwealth diplomats in London. He was in the British capital as Cyprus' representative at the 26th Commonwealth Foreign Ministers Meeting and participated in events for Commonwealth Day. Discussions focused on geopolitical challenges, strengthening multilateral cooperation, and reforms to better utilize the potential of the Commonwealth. Ambassador Kakouris informed Commonwealth partners about developments in the Cyprus issue, emphasizing Cyprus' commitment to restarting negotiations for a comprehensive and sustainable solution. He also held bilateral meetings with Commonwealth Secretary-General Shirley Botchwey, Antigua and Barbuda Foreign Minister Chet Greene, and British Foreign Office Minister Chris Elmore. On the sidelines of the proceedings, he had a brief conversation with King Charles III.
