Greek Ambassador: KD has Athens' Support in Efforts to End Occupation and Reunification

The Greek Ambassador to Cyprus, Konstantinos Kollias, assured that the Republic of Cyprus has the continued support of Greece in its efforts to end the occupation, reunification, restore legality and ensure the safety of all Cypriot citizens. The statement was made on the occasion of the anniversary of March 25, 1821. The Ambassador emphasized that Greece and Cyprus have achieved much and are called upon to face challenges in a fluid international environment, with crises and wars. He underlined the importance of March 25th as a landmark moment in modern Greek history, marking the rebirth of the nation and the founding of the modern Greek state. He referred to Cyprus' contribution to the struggle of 1821, as well as the sacrifice of Cypriot fighters. He pointed out that solidarity between Greeks and Cypriots was crucial. Kollias stated that Greece and Cyprus are factors of stability and security in the region, as members of the EU and with Greece as a non-Permanent Member of the UN Security Council. He stressed that the two countries are called upon to give peaceful struggles in an international environment of challenging International Law.
