Portugal: At Least 4 Dead Due to Storm Christine

At least four people have died in Portugal due to Storm Christine, which hit the country on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday and then moved on to Spain. One person was killed when a tree fell on their car in Vila Franca de Xira, near Lisbon, while three others died in Leiria. The storm caused widespread damage, particularly in the Lisbon region and central Portugal, with fallen trees, infrastructure damage, and flooding. Approximately 800,000 households and businesses were left without electricity, and there were also problems with transportation. Portugal has been hit by successive storms in recent days.
