3.5-Year Prison Sentence for Woman in Paphos for Burglary, Theft, and Vandalism

A Paphos District Court sentenced a 30-year-old woman to 3.5 years in prison for burglary, theft, and malicious damage. The defendant had entered a residence, stolen jewelry and money worth €30,340, and caused damage to a car. The Court characterized the offenses as serious, taking into account the defendant's past, who had been convicted seven other times for similar offenses. The 30-year-old entered the residence through the kitchen and stole the jewelry and money from the bedroom, even wearing the owner's wedding ring. The owner noticed her presence and notified her husband, who immobilized her in a nearby park. The defendant tried to persuade the owner not to notify the Police, offering to return the stolen items. Additionally, she caused damage to the roof of a car, amounting to €800. Although the defense mentioned the defendant's difficult living conditions, the Court stressed that this does not justify her criminal behavior.
