EU-Australia Trade Surplus Reaches €26.7 Billion in 2025, According to Eurostat

According to Eurostat data, trade between the European Union and Australia recorded a surplus of €26.7 billion in 2025. EU exports to Australia amounted to €36.9 billion, while imports reached €10.2 billion. Despite a slight decrease in exports compared to 2024, they remain 39.6% higher than in 2015. Similarly, imports decreased slightly but increased by 49.9% compared to 2015. The main exported products from the EU to Australia are pharmaceuticals and medical products (13.1%), road vehicles (11.1%), general industrial machinery and equipment (9.5%), electrical machinery and appliances (6.9%), and specialized industrial machinery (6.7%). These five categories represent almost half (47.3%) of the total export value. Imports are dominated by coal, coke, and briquettes (29.0%), oilseeds and fruits (15.3%), gold (7.2%), ores and metal scrap (5.6%), and various industrial products (5.0%). These categories account for 62.1% of the total import value. Eurostat notes that these figures show a steady increase in trade between the EU and Australia since 2015, despite annual fluctuations. This trend suggests a strong and growing trade relationship between the two regions.
