Trump Threatens 100% Tariffs on European Countries Over Greenland

Former US President Donald Trump is threatening to impose tariffs of up to 25% on imports from Britain and seven other NATO countries (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, Netherlands, and Finland) if they do not comply with his demands to purchase Greenland from Denmark. Trump states he is willing to proceed “100%” with imposing these tariffs. The threat has provoked strong reactions from European governments and the European Union, which has scheduled an emergency summit to discuss a response. Denmark has warned that US military action in Greenland would mean the end of NATO. NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte stated that the Alliance will continue to cooperate with Denmark and Greenland on Arctic security.
