Pezeshkian: Iran Will Not Develop Nuclear Weapons

Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that Tehran will not develop nuclear weapons, as Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has banned weapons of mass destruction. This statement comes ahead of the third round of talks with the United States, which continues to accuse Iran of seeking to build a nuclear weapon. Khamenei has already issued a religious decree (fatwa) in the early 2000s prohibiting the development of nuclear weapons. The US, through Vice President Jay D. Vance, has expressed concerns about Iran rebuilding its nuclear program.
