PASYDY Condemns Conditions at Athalassa Hospital – Calls for Urgent Action

PASYDY, through its Specialized Psychologists and Physiotherapists – Occupational Therapists Branches, condemns the continued indifference of the state to Athalassa Hospital, which has led to a complete functional, therapeutic, and working deadlock. Mental health professionals work in buildings that do not meet basic safety and hygiene standards, endangering their health and that of patients. PASYDY points out that this situation is not recent, but the result of long-standing delays and unfulfilled commitments to the completion of the New Athalassa Hospital. Despite statements by the President and the Minister of Health, the project has not been implemented, leaving the existing hospital unsuitable. The PASYDY Branches call on the state, the Ministry of Health, and the OKYPY to immediately take responsibility, ensure safe working conditions and care for patients, and provide a clear timeline for the completion of the New Hospital. They threaten dynamic reactions if the situation does not improve. PASYDY emphasizes that the safety and dignity of workers and patients are not negotiable and that the perpetuation of the unsuitable situation is unacceptable.
