Theodoros Kolokotronis Archival Site Presented in Athens

The Theodoros Kolokotronis Archival Site, a digital repository of knowledge and history, was presented in Athens, containing nearly 1,150 documents related to the life and work of Theodoros Kolokotronis and the Greek Revolution. The presentation took place at a special event at the Megaron Mousikis, attended by the President of the Republic, Konstantinos Tasoulas. The Archival Site is a creation of the non-profit company ARCHIVE OF THEODOROS KOLOKOTRONIS, which collected and digitized a rare archival collection from the Michail N. Stasinopoulos-BIOHALCO Charitable Foundation and the Public Benefit and Cultural Work Foundation (KIKPE). The scientific documentation and development of the Archival Site are implemented in collaboration with the Institute of Historical Research of the National Hellenic Research Foundation (IIE/NHRF). The collection includes correspondence from Kolokotronis with administrative and military authorities, fighters, and family members. Gennaios Kolokotronis, son of Theodoros, contributed to the rescue of important documents from public archives and private collections. The digital Archival Site attempts to bridge the fragmentation of the collection, gathering and presenting manuscripts and material evidence in thematic collections. In his speech, President Tasoulas emphasized the importance of Theodoros Kolokotronis as a general and a man who believed in education and the progress of the country. He highlighted his courage, knowledge, and determination, as well as his devotion to the homeland.
