Spain Approves €5 Billion Package and Rent Freeze to Counteract War Impacts

Spain announced a €5 billion support package to address the economic consequences of the conflict in the Middle East. The package includes a “drastic reduction” in energy taxes, VAT cuts on natural gas and fuel, which could reduce prices at the pumps by up to 30 cents per liter. Additionally, a decree is being promoted to impose a temporary freeze on rents nationwide, similar to measures taken during the energy crisis caused by the war in Ukraine. The package consists of 80 measures and aims to relieve citizens and businesses from the economic pressures caused by the international situation.
