Fog, Frost and Landslides in the Mountains - Police Recommendations

Due to the adverse weather conditions prevailing in the Troodos region, with dense fog, snowfall and frost, the Police have issued recommendations to drivers. The Platron – Troodos, Karvouna – Troodos and Prodromou – Troodos roads are open only to vehicles equipped with anti-slip chains or four-wheel drive. Additionally, due to the weather conditions, rockfalls and landslides are observed on the roadway at various points of the road network in the mountainous and semi-mountainous areas, making the roads dangerous. The Police urge drivers to be extremely careful, maintain safe distances and have their vehicle headlights on. The situation is expected to remain dangerous until the weather conditions improve, so drivers are urged to be particularly careful and avoid travelling to mountainous areas unless absolutely necessary.
