George Marinos, Greece's Most Explosive Showman, Passes Away

George Marinos, one of Greece's most prominent showmen, has passed away at the age of 87. Marinos, a pioneer of live shows in Greece, had withdrawn from public life in recent years and was living in a care facility. Born in Athens in 1939, he began his career in theater and cabarets, introducing a new form of entertainment that combined prose, satire, dance, and music. He worked for years at the "Medusa" on Makrygianni Street, collaborated with renowned artists, and maintained close friendships with Manos Hadjidakis and Nikos Gatsos. He was known for his sketches, witty remarks, and impersonations, while in his personal life, he was a solitary figure who adored his dogs.
