Paphos: Traffic Gridlock Due to Konia Road Closures

Works on the main avenue leading from the Paphos-Limassol motorway roundabout to the village of Konia are causing a severe traffic jam in Paphos. Traffic is extremely slow at all times of the day, even outside peak hours, with kilometer-long queues and frequent accidents. The problem has worsened in the last month with the start of work in Konia, adding extra pressure to Paphos' already burdened road network. The Konia and Paphos Hospital roundabouts are particularly dangerous, with an increased risk of collisions. The Police have deployed teams to key points to facilitate traffic, however delays and accidents are a daily occurrence. This situation has caused concern to the authorities and residents of Paphos. The increase in population and commercial activity in Paphos, combined with the renovations of recent years, have worsened the traffic problem. Relevant authorities recognize that Paphos' road network can no longer meet the needs of the city.
