Over 2,800 Students Participate in Financial Literacy Lectures by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission

The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CSE) has completed a series of financial literacy lectures for primary, secondary, and high school students, with over 2,800 students participating to date. The lectures, held between October and December 2025, focused on enhancing the financial literacy of young people and protecting them from investment scams online. In the latest round, 29 lectures were delivered at the request of schools, with the involvement of 13 CSE officials who visited schools across all provinces. The lectures covered topics such as identifying online traps, protecting personal data, recognizing suspicious investment proposals, and making responsible financial decisions. Particular emphasis was placed on the risks associated with artificial intelligence, which, despite its potential, can be used for deception and misinformation. Critical evaluation of information was highlighted as an essential skill for young investors. The Chairman of the CSE, George Theoharidis, stressed the importance of financial education for young people as an investment in society, especially in a constantly changing digital environment. The CSE also conducted an online quiz, an awareness campaign on social media, and published a Guide for Investors on Artificial Intelligence, as part of the World Investor Week 2025.
