Greek universities are completing the deregistration of 'eternal students' today, with the total number reaching 228,000. The process concerns students of four-year study programs, while next year students of five-year programs will be deregistered, and subsequently those of six-year programs. Those who have received the regulation to complete 70% of the courses and have two successful exam participations are excluded. The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens has the highest number of deregistrations (86,000), with significant numbers also at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Democritus University of Thrace, University of Crete, University of Western Macedonia and University of Patras. Approximately 35,000 students have been granted an extension due to demonstrated interest in completing their studies.
