Lebanese Foreign Minister Condemns Attack on Akrotiri Following Drone Origin Announcement

Lebanon's Foreign Minister, Youssef Ragi, strongly condemned the drone attack on the British Akrotiri base, which Cyprus stated originated from Lebanese territory. Mr. Ragi emphasized that these actions do not represent Lebanon, its people, or its values, and expressed his country's rejection of any attempt to turn Lebanon into a platform for executing foreign agendas. In a written message to his Cypriot counterpart, Constantinos Kombos, Mr. Ragi assured that Lebanon disavows any involvement in the attack. He also highlighted the importance of not confusing the Lebanese state with groups operating outside its legal framework and authority. The Lebanese Foreign Minister referred to the recent decision of the Lebanese government to declare the military and security activities of Hezbollah illegal, emphasizing that attacks against Cyprus should be seen as acts committed outside the authority of the Lebanese state and in contradiction with government decisions. Expressing his regret for the incident, Mr. Ragi reiterated Lebanon's full and categorical rejection of the attack without reservation. This statement aims to clarify Lebanon's position and avoid any association with the attack.
