Lebanese Army Partially Disarms Hezbollah Near Israel Border

The Lebanese army announced the completion of the first phase of its plan to disarm Hezbollah in the southern part of the country, covering the border area with Israel and along the Litani River. According to the announcement, the area is now under the control of the army, with the exception of areas still under Israeli occupation. The ceasefire agreement signed in 2024 stipulates the disarmament of all non-state armed groups, however, Hezbollah refuses to hand over its weapons. The Lebanese government is facing increasing pressure from the US and Israel to complete the disarmament, while also worrying about a possible escalation of Israeli attacks. The Israeli army continues to occupy strategic points on the border and carry out raids, accusing Hezbollah of attempting to rearm. The Lebanese army will continue operations to locate and neutralize explosives and destroy tunnels dug by Hezbollah fighters.
