President of Cyprus Inaugurates "Myths of Cyprus" Exhibition at the European Parliament

The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, inaugurated the "Myths of Cyprus" exhibition at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, organized by the Press and Information Office (PIO). The exhibition presents eight Cypriot myths, aiming to safeguard, highlight, and disseminate the island's cultural heritage. President Christodoulides emphasized the importance of culture as a common language that unites peoples and strengthens European identity, highlighting diversity as a source of strength for Europe. The exhibition took place within the framework of Cyprus's assumption of the Presidency of the Council of the EU. President Christodoulides stated that Cyprus wishes to act as a bridge between member states, institutions, and Europe with the wider Mediterranean and Gulf region. The presentation of the exhibition was combined with the presentation of the priorities of the Cypriot Presidency to the Plenary Session of the European Parliament. President Christodoulides invoked Jean Monnet's quote regarding the primary importance of culture, emphasizing that culture shapes identity, strengthens communities, and promotes creativity. He expressed his belief that Cyprus, due to its geographical location and historical experience, can contribute substantially to dialogue and cooperation on the European and regional scene. The Director of the PIO, Aliki Stylianou, welcomed the attendees and explained the philosophy behind the selection of the myths presented in the exhibition. The exhibition is an initiative to promote Cypriot culture and strengthen European awareness. The organization of the exhibition is part of a broader effort to promote Cypriot identity and cultural heritage at the European level.
