Erhurman Criticizes EU over GSI: Proposes Cyprus-Turkey-Greece Interconnection

The leader of the Turkish Cypriot side, Tufan Erhurman, criticized the European Union for its stance on the Great Sea Interconnector (GSI) project, which envisions the creation of an underwater electricity interconnection cable between Greece, Cyprus, and Israel. He argued that the EU must decide whether to support a project that promotes mutual interdependence and contributes to the resolution of the Cyprus issue, or a project that complicates the situation. Erhurman proposed an alternative solution, an electricity interconnection that would connect Cyprus with Turkey and Greece, which he considers more politically and economically sound. He reiterated his position that the EU should support projects that contribute to the resolution of the Cyprus issue through mutual interdependence.
