Neither Romanticism nor Naivety

The article analyzes the geopolitical situation in the Middle East and external intervention in it. The author emphasizes that the region has never adhered to rules of ethics and that the current situation cannot be simplified into good and evil. Recent strikes by Israel and the United States against Iranian infrastructure, as well as Tehran's response, raise the question of whether external intervention is necessary to remove a tyrannical regime or whether it will lead to chaos. The author questions the motives of the countries involved and points out Russia's inability to influence events. Finally, he argues that abandoning the Iranian people to their fate would be complicity in the regime and that limited external pressure could give breathing room to democratic nuclei.
