Roma Gets Green Light for New Stadium

Roma has received the green light from the Rome city council to build a new stadium in the Pietralata district, with an estimated cost of one billion euros. The new stadium will have a capacity of 60,000 seats and is expected to be ready for the matches of EURO 2032, which will be co-hosted by Italy and Turkey. Roma shares the Olimpico stadium with Lazio, but both clubs want to have their own stadium. At the same time, Lazio plans to renovate the Flaminio stadium. The state of Italian stadiums is a point of criticism, with UEFA President Alexander Ceferin calling them 'shameful'.
